Theres Gonna Come a Day That Youll Feel Better Youll Rise Up Free and Easy on That Day

(Be Free video)

"But there's gonna come a day," that's the pivotal phrase in a country song, "Everybody Talks to God," making its way up the country music charts these days. Aaron Lewis tells it like it is.

The lyrics start off, "He was sayin' grace over a Tuesday blue-plate special / When the man in the next booth said, 'Don't you watch TV? Don't know that God's a myth, I hate to see you waste your breath / 'Cause there ain't no use talkin' to a ghost that don't exist."

We all know those around us who question God's existence. Listen to this praying man's response.

"The prayin' man said, 'Amen,' and looked up from his plate and said, 'You may not talk to God right now, but there's gonna come a day.'"

The chorus continues, "'Cause whether you're a farmer in the field prayin' for the rain / Or you curse him at the graveside 'cause he called a loved one's name / You can thank him, you can blame him whether you believe in him or not / 'Cause, in the end everybody talks to God.'"

That pretty much sums it up, folks.

My grandpa and grandma were farmers and there's no doubt in my mind they prayed to God for the rains needed to harvest bountiful crops for more than 70 years. There was no irrigation in South Central Texas back then.

In a like manner, I often pray for God's continued blessings as an insurance agent. First, I thank Him for His wonderful provision in the past and ask Him to place good people in my path so I can continue to help them with their insurance needs.

He's been providing for nearly 40 years now and I trust He will remain resourceful as long as He wants me to remain in this challenging profession.

Lewis continues his story in the next verse: "The man in the booth went quiet 'cause he didn't have a comeback / So he shrugged it off and paid his tab then shuffled out the door / And the prayin' man he prayed for the man who drove away / Hopin' he would see the light before it got too late."

Then he continues: "But, how was he to know he touched a nonbeliever's soul / Who got that conversation two red lights down the road."

Yes, in real life God does present Himself to some quicker than others. Lewis has it right: "Everybody Talks to God."

Country songs often tell stories that deal with real life situations, and often they present simple truths that otherwise might not be addressed.

God's Word handles life situations in a similar fashion. You may not like what you find in the pages of Scripture, but it's the simple hard truth that we'd all be wise to follow.

God is real and His story needs to be accepted by all who care about their future here on earth and what lies ahead.

Here's how the song ends: "You can thank him, you can blame him / either way, you're gonna face him / Whether you believe in him or not / In the end, everybody talks to God / Everybody talks to God / We all talk to God."

When that day comes, folks, I know we'll be doing the listening. We'll be at a loss for words and have nothing of value to share with God Almighty!

Before that day, I suggest you make a concerted effort to talk to Him, and do your best to let Him know you are deeply sorry and ask Him for His forgiveness for your selfish ways. He wants you to come to Him. Don't put it off any longer!

Not all come to God quickly, even when many may be faithfully praying for them. Just remember this, "But there's gonna come a day." Rest assured.
